Auto Body Repair 8679

Like Auto Body Tech at the Neff Center, Auto Body Repair uses modern, up to date technology to educate its students, but this course goes even deeper into the subject so as to give students a broader range of study. At the closure of the course, students will be able to use technologically advanced machinery to analyze and repair virtually every aspect of an automobile.

 

Basic Carpentry 8600

The basic carpentry course covers topics on lumber, hand tools, and stationary and portable power tools. The students will also build small projects designed to help them understand and master the tools and machines of the trade. This program will provide students with the knowledge needed to work in residential construction and the basic understanding of modern tools and equipment used in this trade.

 

Career Pathways Phase I and II: Construction Skills 9071

This course will explore the skills for Carpenter, Auto Body Repair, Computer Repair, and Emergency Medical Technician. Students will build small projects to help them understand the tools, machines, and technologies of the carpentry trade. Students will then explore collision repair, body panel repair, fiberglass repair, enamel and urethane refinishing, spot, rust, and panel repair, and estimating. Students will also explore computer hardware, operating systems, system configuration, operating systems, and troubleshooting.After doing so students will research first-aid treatment and life support systems by learning of technological equipment such as EKG's, external defibrillators, and bag-valve mask resuscitators in advanced life-support systems. 

Computer Repair and Servicing 8621

A technological career in computers begins here. Students study computer hardware, operating principles, system configuration, operating systems, and troubleshooting concepts in accordance with lab exercises computer-aided instruction and hands-on learning to progress throughout the course. By the completion of the course, students should be able to build, install, and repair computers with the latest technology available.

Emergency Medical Technician 9071

Students learn the latest aid treatments and life-support systems for sick or injured persons in a pre-hospital setting. This includes the learning of life saving technology such as Electrocardiograms, defibrillators, and resuscitators in an advanced, realistic environment. Completion of this program prepares students for the State Emergency Medical Technician examination. 

Technology Fundamentals

This program provides students with the opportunity to identify hardware components, the software associated with information systems, the Internet and how it works, and to investigate future trends.  Additionally, students will use word processor, database, spreadsheet, desktop publishing, and presentation software to enhance their experience.  Students will be able to identify various parts of a computer, troubleshoot, and upgrade computers.  Students will investigate networking, develop WebPages, and work with graphics and interactive media.

Medical Technology

This course gives students an exploration of careers within Health Care. Instruction is given in human anatomy and body systems, CPR training, first aid training, universal precautions, and the learning of job skills at the entry level. Students will learn about various health care delivery systems, demonstrate the appropriate work habits of a health care worker, recognize the symptoms of shock, treat external bleeding of wounds and burns, give first aid and CPR, apply stints and slings, and learn to clear airways of obstructions in victims.  The student will set a career goal and review the required qualifications.
